Love Addiction

Love can be one of the most powerful and meaningful experiences in our lives. But sometimes, a relationship — or the pursuit of one — begins to take over.

You may experience :

  • Persistent or intrusive thoughts about a partner or romantic interest
  • Intense fear of rejection or abandonment
  • A strong need for reassurance, attention, or contact
  • Difficulty tolerating distance or uncertainty in a relationship
  • Repeatedly returning to relationships you know are harmful
  • Feeling unable to let go, even when you want to
  • Losing sight of your own needs, boundaries, friendships, or identity
  • Feeling intense emotional highs when connection feels secure and deep distress when it does not
  • Becoming strongly attached to unavailable or inconsistent partners
  • Using romantic connection as your primary source of comfort, self-worth, or emotional stability

Love is not the problem.

Needing others is part of being human. The goal is not to become completely independent or to stop wanting connection. Difficulties can emerge when a relationship becomes our primary way of regulating emotions, feeling worthy, or experiencing safety.

How therapy can help?

Therapy can help you understand the relational patterns keeping you stuck while exploring the emotional needs underneath them. Together, we can work toward stronger boundaries, emotional regulation, a more secure sense of self, and relationships grounded in reciprocity, safety, and choice rather than fear or compulsion.
